Yuri couldn't see the creature through the sudden cloud of blood, but he was already prying it off of Kaye with great strength, to allow her to get out the water.
Whatever it was, it flailed at Yuri and Ace, lashing out with tendrils. One managed to snag Yuri around his throat, but in the heat of adrenalin, he was lucky enough to pry the damn thing off.
He broke water to suck in a deep breath, before diving under again, to continue to rip the thing off of Kaye. He wasn't as good underwater as Ace. Not by a longshot. But it could be worse. He could be on a boat.]
